An Impacter is someone committed to spending at least two hours per month serving in their community. Impacters serve at their parish, they feed the homeless, they mentor and teach the youth, or they visit the sick, or clean their town, or help the elderly. Families can make meals for other families who are grieving or welcoming new babies to their family.
However they feel called to serve, they are committed to living the Gospel of service. We want YOU to join our Impact Family whether that means giving a monthly gift, serving two hours per month, or both!
We hope you see this mission of service as a story for God’s dream for you and who you are becoming. Also service is a story of a community, and as you serve together you will see the difference that you make. Formation for mission is an experience of love that deepens reflection, and prayer, and love for God. Your gratitude for blessings received and humility will fruitfully blossom in your family. You may see your love and influence grow as you are changed by the service. We hope that you progress from 2hrs/mo to feeling a strong desire to have a weekly mission of service that becomes part of your mission of giving to make your life into a legacy of love.
Primarily based on university campuses, our service communities help students find purpose through service, balance prayer with action, and practice others-focused.
We want to plant these communities AND tell their stories to inspire others to launch their own service communities.
Right now, Impact Resources is staffed by a talented team, working (in addition to their day jobs) to advance the mission of Impact. We want to increase our staff to increase our reach, and encourage more people to experience the joy of service in a community.
At Impact, we have several initiatives across our service communities. The Pizza Box Challenge aims to feed 10,000 people every year. Adopt-A-Grandparent reaches out to retired folks by visiting with them, playing games, bringing them baked goods, and many other things. The Princess Project which is in grant application status for funding (in conjunction with A Moment of Magic) brings joy to sick kids in the hospital.
Our other initiatives, like Dial-A-Smile and the Couple’s Challenge, encourage community for those who might not feel ready to jump into service
Our initiatives are simple yet motivating, and the list is ever-growing. To scale up, we need your help.
We encourage parishes to make their difference. In addition to providing curriculum for youth ministries, we encourage parishioners to launch their own service communities.
Our favorite way to help parishes is through service retreats. We independently research the area around the parish for service opportunities and provide a weekend event that can include prayer, worship, and a service workshop.
These retreats help parishes regain or reassert their true identity as welcoming communities that practice what they preach. You can bring us to your parish by contacting retreats@impact-resources.org.
